Here is a sample letter you can copy and paste into your email editor:
Hello,
I know this is unusual for me to share my involvement with you about The Villages Governance issues. Please tell if you do not wish to hear anything more.
But, the CBOD is proposing new Club Bylaws, and the previous three proposals have had many issues. The CBOD will be taking a fresh start in early 2025, which may address some of those concerns.
I joined a group of Concerned Villagers called Members Matter that have a Website that is tracking the Bylaws amendment proposals and also has additional information for you and other Villagers. Please share it with your neighbors and friends:
The Website is MembersMatters.org (Just right click and select a new window).
Request – Please consider helping us by:
-
- Send Members Matter your concerns by taking the survey on the Members Matter website
- Endorsing Members Matter by adding your name to our list of supporters
- Getting involved – Join Members Matter
- Send out an email like this one to alert your friends and neighbors
Please reply to this email or call me to discuss or go to the Website. When the CBOD mails you the Proposed Bylaws ballot, Be sure to Vote! Every vote counts!
Thank you. I hope you will vote when the time comes. Voting Matters!

Some of my concerns about the most recent , Oct. 14, 2024, amendment that was being proposed:
-
- The Club BOD wants to approve up to $1.6 million on Improvement Projects without a Member Vote
- A proposed List of Capital Improvement Projects has/is being developed without Owner suggestions. We’ve never seen it.
- A new Strategic Plan for The Villages is being developed without Owner involvement
- The Club will charge New Owners up to $15,000 for Club Membership when they purchase your home
- There are legal concerns about the validity of it
- When you sell your home, more than likely, you will have to negotiate and pay some or all the $15,000
- Club Dues are already high and going up dramatically each year
- If electronic voting is implemented then a paper ballot should also remain available for those that want it
